I also may need to flash my pcm to make the most of thes mods but I need to know if anybody flashes obdI computers. they don't offer superchips tuners for my truck. I said this earlier i can't run more than 92 octane because they don't offer anything higher in omaha. so if any of you have had a similar problem tell how you solved it.

the mopar pcms require 93 fuel and not sure about jet chips(heard they suck)

If you have a 93 you should already have a 3" exhaust. Came that way from the factory unless it was one of the later ones built that year. There is no one that flashes an OBDI PCM. Your only option is a MP PCM or a stand alone system. Megasquirt is the most affordable, or you could do a FAST system.

There is no shaker for a GenII Dak. If you want a shaker you will have to fabricate one yourself and modify the stock hood to accept it. Only aftermarket hoods for a GenII are cowl and ram air versions. Haven't seen any others. AAR still sells them I think.

The factory air cleaner set up actually performs well on a GenII truck. Use a drop in K&N round filter and remove the weatherplate behind the grille that restricts the intake tube. Instant free flowing cold air, and cheaper/easier than fabricating a tube and cone filter setup, which will still be sucking hot air from the engine bay.

I already removed the weather plate in front of the tube(actually helped a little bit). I figured the drip in wasn't enough. I was planning on a holley power shot air cleaner with 14 inch by 3 inch element.

The factory exhaust is 3 inch but it comes down to 2 3/4 then to 2.5 I don't want a bigger converter pipe i just want all the stuff after that i.e. muffler, 3 inch tail pipe.

I would also like more input on the valving someone suggested I have the heads rebuilt with 1.97" intake valves and have them ported. Does anybody have a ball park figure of what that would cost. Opinions on the krc 206 cam and suggestions for valve train.

I went to Home Depot and got a threaded rod or .50. Used the stock rod as a rough template for distances and angles, then bent it in a vise and cut the excess off with a dremel. Works fine for me. I also ported my TB and removed ground the top flush, so I needed an S-bolt just to use the stock airbox.

That filter will flow about as much air as you will ever need.

You can do a mild port job on stock heads, but the stock ones are weak and prone to cracking. Most people tend to get an RT head, either 2.02" or 1.92" and the new Edelbrock one is a good performer too.

if the stock cast iron ones are prone to cracking than it would be the case that the cast iron r/t heads are to because they too are cast iron. plus I don't have enough money for a new set of heads.

so like someone else suggested i will port them and get them machined for bigger valves.

Not quite. The RT heads are an entirely different casting. Yes, they are cast iron, but they are thicker were it counts. As a result they are not prone to cracking like the stockers are.

If you port yours, you need to pay special attention to your cooling system. Make sure the water pump and fan are in good working condition, and coolant is in good shape as well. That seems to help, since it is heat buildup in the back of the block that causes the cracking. I suspect UD pulleys and poorly set up electric fan conversions make matters worse.

thanks, how big are the stock valves on the 318 and what are the stock horse power and torque numbers of the 318. I read in a chilton's manual that they were 230hp. at 4800rpm and 280ft.lb. of torque at 3200rpm. I just want to see if these are correct numbers.

too bad I just sold most of my old setup 206X, MP pcm, TQ, headers(still available), and everthng else from my 93.

All I have left are the MP headers.
