I want a k&n fipk but i heard they don't filter very well I was wondering if anybody could tell me if there is a better filter out there. I have the old round style open element. maybe S&B or something else like that.

Does airaid make round air cleaners?

Also I saw a nice holley one and I was wondering if anybody has used a holley powershot air filter and/or the power shot air cleaner assembly I was wondering how holley power shots filter.

K&N and the foam pre-filter would be a pretty good combination.

The thing with the K&N and I assume all cleaneable air filters is that the dirtier they get, the better they work as a filter.

I too have a round air cleaner on my 5.2. I installed it and a brand new 9" round by 2 7/8" K&N filter late last year. When I pull it apart, I don't see any dusting or contamination of any kind within the area of the throttle body. I even just last week changed out my intake manifold. Aside from the oil due to the blown plenum gasket; it too was very clean.

I was also wondering how big the round k&n fipk is

Also does anyone have a holley power shot 14 inch air cleaner with 3 inch tall element. let me know how they work/fit in the engine compartment.

On my old 95 3.9 I had the edelbrock 10" air hat and K&N filter too. I could not get the 10" K&N to fit, but GB2000 did.

I think I used the E-1065
http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=E-1065

Product Style: Round Air Filter
Height: 2.813 in (71 mm)
Inner Wire: No
Inside Diameter: 8.375 in (213 mm)
Outside Diameter: 9.625 in (244 mm)
Top Style: Open

I never saw any signs of dirt making it past the filter.

I will probably opt for a FIPK which is cheaper than the K&N because the HP gains for my truck are 3200-4000 rpm. I'm only going to see that at/near WOT.
