Message: ive got a 1991 club cab auto 2wd with the 5.2 liter engine. recently it has started shimmying in the front end. feels like the whole front end is about to fall out. while it does this the tach. corresponds to the shake by jumping around as the engine skips. the temp. gauge also jumps to the hot side. pulled my pop-up this weekend and it ran fine. after i dropped off the camper and went to store it started this foolishness on my way back to the camp site. got up this morning and pulled my camper home running 70-80 mph and truck never jerked. could this be sum type of sensor filter, or what. any info will be appreciated.

Message: So basically if I'm reading this correctly, it doesn't jerk under a load, but does when not loaded? Sounds like the tranny. Reason being, under a load you're using more throttle. More throttle causes a higher line pressure at a given rpm via the kickdown linkage. Higher line pressure would lead to a more positive engagement of the clutches, etc. If not that, maybe the torque converter.

Message: So basically you have the load on one end, and higher line pressure on the other, so it hooks and goes, but when free of the load the friction-bearing components aren't connecting as intended. Start with a filter/fluid change, and get the bands adjusted. When it's bucking, it's probably slipping a lot and this will quickly cause the tranny to overheat, which heat saturates the radiator.

Message: you really think it is the transmission ?? when it is acting silly..it is like it is outta alignment for a monmet or so..and the tach does jump a lil once in a while when pulling..my dad bought it off the showroom floor in 1992 and has never replaced anything..just tune- ups and tires..we recently replaced the thermostat cuz it was overheating to find out that trash had gotten between the 2 radiators..thanx for the info..and anything else you can think of
