look down the throttle body opening to see if there is oil in the manifold. if so it's the belly pan. there is a more scientific way to check that belly pan but i don't know it right off hand. do a little search of this site, you'll probably find it.

also, i wouldn't use 5w30. maybe 10w30. depending what the climate is where you are. i live in the deep south and have always run a good straight 30w in all my vehicles and have great results.

That's a lot of oil. The rings (not seals) could be bad. But I wouldn't expect that at only 86K miles. Change the belly pan gasket and see what happens.

If oil burning is still an issue, then it probably is the rings. Try a can of Restore. It won't fix it, but will delay the need for a rebuild until you get time and money.

do a compression check to test if the piston rings are bad, mine are.... ;(. Saving for that racing block from hughes.

Rings at that mileage would be very rare. Does it blow a big cloud of smoke when first starting? That would most likely be valve seals. But first check the PCV valve and hoses for cloggging.
