Do you need anything else except the cams for the conversion or is a direct swap. I was told by a local delearship that i needed to have HO heads.

From what ive seen on here it sounds like its just a matter of switching them.

From what I've read, if you wanted an ACTUAL HO motor you might as well just get the entire engine!

But power for power I hear most of it is obtained in the cams, maybe the heads as well.

But if you want to know what exact differences there are in production: HO engines have higher compression (slightly), diff crank, rods, two knock sensors, heads, intake (on 2000 thru 2002) and cams. Maybe some other stuff I didn't mention.

So if you are wanting to swap a few things to say yours is a HO, it would not be worth it to do all of those I don't think.

I've spoken to Dodge about adding the HO Cam for my 2005 4.7l Dakota several times and they will not even help nor suggest that this be done to the 2005 Dakota Engines for reason unknown and they would not tell me why. They just said after speaking to the top Techs there they do not suggest changing out the Cam to the HO Cam...

I Think this really BLOWS...
If i had known about the HO motor when i bought my truck I would have gotten it instead.

Jimbo

I've tried all the links
http://www.wjjeeps.com/ho_engine.htm
http://www.wjjeeps.com/manifold.htm

and especially this one:
http://www.wjjeeps.com/engine.htm

and none of them work,...

Are you sure the links are correct?

For 1/2 of the horsepower and torque of the HO engine, you only have to install the HO camshafts. I installed a new set of valve cover gaskets for extra insurance when modding my '01. A 2002 or earlier intake manifold will have slightly better lower rpm torque. 2003-up use the HO manifold anyway.

DakotaJimbo,

try http://www.wjjee.com
select Enter, then scroll down the list on the left 'til you get to the Engines section.

I would have put them in as links, but can't seem to figure out how to do it.
