Message: my 97 dakota losses oil (about 1/2 a liter a week). It doesn't seem to be buring oil and there are no spots under the truck that I can see but the oil pan looks a little oily. anyone have any ideas.

Message: Its the belly pan gaskey under the intake manifold. Do a search for "belly pan" or "plenum gasket" and you'll get all the info you need. Don't panic. It's nothing serious but should be fixed.

Message: Thanks alot. is there anything else I should look for. The reason I ask is because the dealer I bought it from says its the rear main seal is going to fix it this week end but i don't really want them to fix it if its not broke, ya know what I mean. like I said there is no iol under the truck.
thanks again

Message: Like you say, if there's no oil on the ground, well... Dealers only want your money. I've been on Mopar forum boards for four years and belly pan leaks far outnumber rear main seals problems with regard to disappearing oil. Good luck!
