Subject: Remove Cat IP: Logged
Message: Hi all.I now have a new exhaust 3" pipes from cat to my new Flowmaster 40 and a 2.5" from the flowmaster to end and it sounds great. Now i want to take the cat off but i have a sensor before and after the cat and i have a pipe to fit in there beetween the sensors if i remove the cat.Is it ok to remove the cat and place a pipe there or will i have a problem with engine idle and gasmilage or some problem with the second sensor.
I have heard that i have to buy somekind of loop to plug in the wire instead the sec sensor.
Greetings from Iceland

Message: You will most likely throw the check engine light on running no cat with the o2 in place. Some people have gotten away with tying the sensor to the frame. You can try that method first, and if it doesnt work for your truck, you can buy an o2 simulator.

Message: I replaced my Cat with a "high flow performance" cat. But your situation is similar since I could look through the cat I bought.
Anyway, you have to leave both sensors in, but you have to modify the rear one to eliminate the Check engine light.
Do a search for the instructions, a few people have writen it out in detail.
I did it and have had no problems. It cost about $5 and took about 30 min to do.
