Message: i too have that secondary electric fan in front of the clutch fan. how do you go about removing the clutch fan? it doesn't look as easy as my old 1989 silverado was. 4 bolts and the water pump pulley came off.

Message: Derek,
1 bolt, in front of the pulley, think it's 7/8 or something like that. I used a pipe wrench.
The pulley stays on, only the clutch and fan come off with this one bolt. Mines been off about 9 mos. now, runs as cool, (180 t-stat), more power!
it will carefully slip past the tank on top of the radiator. a search of this site will reveal dozens of posts on this subject.

Message: Removing the engine driven fan? will this decrease the life of the electric fan? and is the electric fan enough to cool the 4.7? i thought the electric fan was a backup and only ran when a/c was on or towing
