Message: I installed new fan clutch (auto zone), and noticed at start up it seems to push a lot more air and is noisy (sounds like blowing ALOT of air)while above 2000 or so rpm until it warms up. whats the deal?

Message: That's how the clutch fan works. It's slips a lot until warmed up. So it's noisy. I removed mine and installed a 180 thermostat. It only runs about 10 degrees cooler but, it's better than a 195 where my temp gauge was staying just below 210. I don't get worse gas mileage or throw a code like some people have claimed on this site. People that are claiming this theorically I might add. I also have plenty of heat during the winter.

Message: It's normal for a good fan clutch to engage after starting the engine cold. That's why mine's going into the trash and I plan to replace it with an electric.

Message: I have an electric fan on the way to replace my "9 bladed 20lb monster" ;) It claims to move 2100CFM, i'm running a 180degree stat and have a new radiator but plan on running the 3piece underdrive pulley set. Am I going to have adaquite(sp?) cooling in the summer? I live in Duluth MN and my truck is a 96 dak 318 stick, so no tranny fluid through the rad. Rob C do you even have a fan? Granted I don't have stop and go traffic here you limit yourself to where you can go with out overheating in a heart beat.

Message: Yeah, I've got a 4.7L so, I have the big electric fan built into the shroud. The only thing I don't like is the fan is controlled by the PCM so it only comes on if the temperature exceeds 220 degrees.
