Subject: Fog lights! IP: Logged
Message: Is there anyway to have the fog lights stay on when you switch to high beams. I just purchased an '04 Dakota QC and would like to change the fog lights to a brighter bulb. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: I put 894 bulbs in my '02 Dak. Just plain halogens. I beleive they are the same wattage (37 I think) but they aren't coated on the ends, lets more light out. Aim them up off the ground too...helps a ton.
As for the high beams and lights... http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/5775.html
On the second page of that post, use TODD's instructions. I used them and it works wonders, it basically wires the activation for the fog light relay into the parking light relay, so if your parking lights are on, so are your fogs.

Message: I think that PILOT makes a kit that fits. Its sorta like a universal kit, but they are 4" and will fit.

Message: I put the Mopar Accessories Foglight Kit in my 04. They come with their own remote switch, and they stay on all the time. High beam, low beam, or parking lights. I love it.

I don't think that will work with a 97. You don't even have a CTM (the black box at teh kick panel).
If you can trace wires etc, you should be able to find your parking light and fog light relays and wire them together just like above.

Message: don't forget! Always use a relay to isolate circuts. Besides the potential overload of a circut, wierd things can happen in todays automotive electronics when circuts are joined or altered in any way. The relays are very inexpensive usually under $5 at most auto-parts stores. Use the park light circut in this case, to "pick" the relay, and run a fused wire to the contacts, the other to the fogs.
