Subject: mods for 4.7L 04 Dak IP: Logged
Message: I just ordered a new intake and hood. I'm trying to find the next 'logical' steps. I heard HO cams and manifolds, catback or xpipe/dual exhuast, 70mm TB, IAT sensor, and KB PCM flash. Sound about right? website performance sites/links are appreciated. Thanks

Message: i would do the cam swap next. You get the most power from it. As far as i know the kb flash is not available fore 03-04 yet. A 70mm throttle body works well with the cams. The throttle bodies from 2002 and prior are different from the 2003's and up. The sensors hook up differently. Make sure you get the right one. You will not gain much from a cat back. A few have done tru duals with an X pipe going from the pre cats back and have had great results. The Y pipe is one of the biggest restrictions. Enjoy the dak and happyy modding

Message: Krogers1977, you already have the HO manifold on your 2004. D-C started using the HO manifold on all 4.7's in 2003. Any freer-flowing exhaust is a plus matched with less restictive air intake. You can make your stock 68mm TB a "true" 68mm with only your labor involved, as a first/budget step. The HO cams mod is worth every cent. '01 4.7 5-spd 3:92 RC, HO cams w/01 IM, homebrew alloy AI w/K&N drop-in & 6"Fernco, true 68mm TB, Flowmaster 70 w/2 1/2" custom duals, Bosch 4118 +4.

Message: Anyone have recommendation on true dual exhausts? I've looked at above website/link and the 2.5 dual setup w/ cats is like 800+ bucks with no tailpipes or mufflers!!
I wonder if I could fabricate one myself for cheaper that would still perform.

Message: Krogers: If you have the pre-cats before the "Y" in you exhaust system, you don't really need to buy a true dual setup. The precats have the sensors, not the main cat. That means you can remove and replace everything behind each pre-cat. Cut the third cat off, straight pipe it, then go to your local muffler shop and have them fab up a true dual for you. You should be able to print out a few pictures from the web and show the people at the shop.
I have the true duals from GSMotorsports and if I had it all to do again, I would have bought my own welder, done the system myself, and still saved $$$.
