Subject: quick question IP: Logged
Message: I have a 98 dak 4x4 5.2. I live in northern Mi and was wondering if I change oil before winter can I run a 5w30 instead of 10w30 for the winter. Will I gain any benefit from this and will it harm the truck. Second will a K&N drop in filter make any improvements in HP or MPG with no other modifications??????

Message: The "5w" will help in cold weather startup while the "30" part will maintain lube under normal operation. The K&N will help, but don't expect a huge increase. I mean, it's just a filter, not nitrous.

Message: I use 5W30 Mobile 1 in my 5.9 year round.
The K&N drop in filter will not change anything.
