Subject: TRANS REBUILD COSTS???? IP: Logged
Message: I have 96,000 on my 98 5.2 4x4 when should I expect the trans to take a dump at?? It dosent have a hitch and its been very well kept, but I makes a noise when I put it in reverse and it feels like it shifts real light. I went to a independent transmission shop in the area and he says that he builds a lot of them and they have a problem with line pressures and cooling when the motor is floored. And he highly reccomends a shift kit at rebulid time he says that they correct the cooling problem and a problem seal in one of the drums that causes the noise that I am experiencing. Its a 44re and I am wondering what all of you have delt with in this area???? By the way he said to expect about $2,200.00 for the rebuild is that too high???? please help

Message: I AM A SERVICE ADVISOR AT A FORD DEALERSHIP WERE USALLY AROUND $1800. TO 2400. BUT YOU REALLY SHOULD LOOK FOR VALUE INSTEAD OF PRICE, I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY PEOPLE COME TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THESE SMALL SHOPS HAVE HACKED UP THERE TRANS. AND IT'S BEEN 1 YEAR LATER AND THE SMALLER SHOPS CAN'T AFFORD TO BACK UP THERE WORK. A DEALERSHIP WILL HAVE TO. FOR MOST SMALLER JOBS AN OUTSIDE SHADE TREE SHOP MIGHT BE OK BUT ANYTHING WHERE YOU MIGHT NEED TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY GO WITH A PLACE THAT CAN WARRENITY THERE WORK OR GET A REMAN. 3 YR 36K JUST LIKE NEW...
