Subject: cutting my cat IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, i am thinking about cutting my cat on my 98 dak, and i was wondering how lucky some of yall have gotten and don't have a check engine light come on. I was also thinking that after i cut my cat then reset my computer, would that make it where the truck would get used to the cat missing and i not get the light. but if all else fails i guess i will pay 60 bucks for a O2 sim. from jegs.
If you can, help me on this. Especially the ones who have cut their cat.

Message: I've cut the cat on my 97 in March 04. Actually, I fabbed a straight pipe and welded flanges on it and at both ends of the cat. I have a clean air test every two years, so it's bolt off/bolt on :-)
I have not had the MIL trigger on so far but the odds are that it will trigger on for 98 and up.
There's an O2 simm that is used WITH the post-cat O2 sensor ... uses the heating element of the sensor. Cost is $25 US shipped to any of the states. Details at: http://www.dodgetrucks.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47285

Message: First I suggest starting with a sharp, pointy object. Pick up you cat. Slice quickly from left to right. Bam! You cut your cat

Message: Hi, i don't understand all of this but anyways. i have a '97 dodge dakota with a 318 in it. I am looking at putting 2 inch exhaust all the way back. I want true dual exhaust but i don't know what to do with the sensors. i am going to eliminate the cat also. I have 2 sensors, one in front and one in back of the cat. so what do i need to do to make this work. do i need a simulator for the rear sensor and just put the front sensor back in one of the exhaust pipes, or do i need to make an h pipe.
please help me
thanks

Message: Well with any true dual system you need an H pipe or crossover pipe to equal the pressure on both sides of the system. As for the sensors, I can't give any advice for those, sorry...

Message: bad dakota ... I have the Gibson dual rear exit cat-back and have kept the muffler on. I bolt on the straight pipe during the racing season and then bolt on the cat after the season ends. For my specific mods, I've lowered my ETs by nearly 2/10s just by running the straight pipe in place of the cat. I did not expect that much :-)

Message: I have an 2004 dodge Dakota sport and was wondering if I cut
off my cat will it bring a code up on my dash? I am not sure
what the canisters behind the headers are. Idk if they are cats
or spark arresters. I really want to do this before July cause I
plan on buying a stage two chip and other parts. Does anyone
have suggestions
