Subject: Any body got any ideas? IP: Logged
Message: i have a 2002 dakota with a 4.7 i have a dual cold air intake, exhaust, throttlebody spacer, jet stage II, and a venom 400 control module. my problem is that no matter what i try or do my take off from the line is gradually going down hill and it started once i began to add things to my engine. my rolling start is awsome i can chirp the tires at 25 mph, yet from a dead stop it wont do crap and just slowly rolls of the line. Please if anyone has some helpfull hints let me know.

Message: Please take no offense to this but the reason may be that the mods you have chosen to do are mostly crappy.
1) Which intake do you have? You say dual but where are your filter located in you engine bay. If they aren't located in a place where they get cold air then you intake is sucking hot air off your engine. I think you might have the Pro-Zen? This filter works good if you have a hood scoop of some kind.
2)Which exhaust do you have. If it just a flowmaster bolted in place you probably won't notice any improvement at all.
3)The throttle body spacer was a total waste of your money. Take it off.
4)The jet chip was a total waste of your money. The 4.7L PCM learns and has render the JET useless.
5)The venom 400 is crap and will do nothing for you from the line.
After you sell that stuff on ebay this is what you need to do.
1) Intake: Get a 360airintakez. These are dyno proven at around 9rwhp and the price is excellent.
2) Exhaust: If you want to spend the money get the gsmotorsports true-dual exhaust. This will eliminate your third cat. It is pricey but dyno proven. It uses spintech mufflers which are loud. You can get the system and use different mufflers if you'd like. There are other options for exhaust, just do some research as to what you want.
3) Get some traction bars. These will do wonders. Get some decent shocks as well. All these contribute to better launches.
4) Get a larger throttle body. You have a 68mm right now. I'd say upgrade to a 70mm. There are different manufactures. Do some research.
5) Get the ho cams and intake. These will help in a pretty good way.
6) I think krcperformance.com can flash 2002 4.7L PCM's now. Give them a call.
Websites to find what you need:
krcperformance.com
v8performance.com
socaldakotas.com
rpmoutlet.com
truckperformance.com
What kind of gears do you have? Do you have an LSD?

Message: A higher-stall torque converter (if we're talking automatics) would be a big help.
