Subject: rev limiter? IP: Logged
Message: hey guys, my brother just got a 98 r/t and the thing seems to hit a rev limiter and won't shift out? it only starts from rolling kick. it started at about 5800-6000 rpms. anybody know anything about this. should we take it back. alls i gots to say is this truck is awesome. HELP PLEASE.

Message: it sounds like your TV (throttle valve) cable may be adjusted too tight..

under "how to adjust the tv cable" among other usefull tips on that site.

Message: I just had my sons 2000 r/t in the transmission shop. They adjusted the TV cable and road tested it for $25. It shifts fine now.

Message: there is a revised governor pressure sensor for this problem listed in tsb# 18-19-98. It also recommends adjusting the throttle valve cable as stated in daffydak's post. So if the adjustment alone does not help you may want to get the sensor, I think it is around $80 if my memory serves me right.
