Subject: Anti-slip help IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 dak with 4.7l auto, 3.92 axle ratio, anti slip system. I was wondering if I could take off my anti-slip system so i could smoke my tires. I can get them to spin around corners but not going straight. I dont know much about these anti-slip systems and am trying to figure out how to get those tires smokin. My cousin has a 01 chevy and he smokes his tires all the time. He does not have a anti-slip system on his truck. I think my truck is faster but i would also like to smoke some rubber if i want to. If anybody has any helpful info on the best way to do this it would be most appreciated.

Message: It won't even smoke em power braking? slipping tires= loss of power! try lining up against that chevy, let em sit there and smoke his tires, and you'll be puling away from him... I know it looks "cool" to smoke em, but thats gonna eat up your tires...and gas... but if you want to smoke em, try either power braking, or if its a manual, rev it up to about 3 grand and drop the clutch, that should do something!

Message: taking off the antislip unit ( I am not familiar too much with this on Daks, but am familiar wiht it on autos) may cause more tire slippage in rain and ice, just something to consider...

Message: Don't get that, I have no problems at all burning them down. But, don't like to burn the tires anymore rather keep the tread a few more thousand miles.
Z-Tube, R/T Rims, SSB Rear Disc Conversion, Alpine Head-Unit, Infinity Kappa Speakers, SilverStar Headlights, HO Cams & Intake installed.
Got H.O. ?

Message: I tried power braking and i can get them to spin for about 1 second then the anti slip differential kicks in. How does that H.O. system feel Michael? Does it add alot of power?

Message: If you really wanna smoke them:
1) Remove your spare tire and ALL THE MOUNTING HARDWARE for it.
2) Also, try adding AMSOIL synthetic to the tranny to get faster shifts and responsiveness... essential for patching out!
If you have not changed your automatic tranny oil in the past 5,000 miles you should do it now anyway!
Try these threads for more info on this mod:

3) It has been my experience that auto's loose their responsiveness after they heat up for about 30Mins... think about installing a tranny cooler and deeper oil pan to keep a consistent ET. This will also extend the life of your automatic as well.
