Anyone have duel exhaust on the 4.7? How does it sound? I want to put them on my truck but don't want the little 4 cylinder buzz sound. How about a couple of thrush or turbo mufflers with the duels?

I think you mean duals, so I'll go from there. Duals sound awesome on the 4.7. it sounds better than any v8 on the market. sounds like a pissed off 340 duster or t/a challenger.

You're right, I didn't mean I would be fighting with my truck. Wow, I have even been to college, but I must have missed spelling class!!

I have the dual exit cat back from MBRP...best sounding exhaust on the market for that motor. If not that check out Borla and even Magnaflow is good. It sounds so nice at around 2000 RPM but at wide open it sounds so mean. :)

I would love to put dual exaust (or any) on my 01 4.7L dakota. MBRP is the cheapest I have found at 319 or 399. I was wondering what is the difference between the aluminized regulat other than 80 bucks?
here is a link

I am also guessing that the viper gts style is side exhaust?

also how much does it help power and or preformance?

I've heard, that going duals can lose torque, so be prepared to open up yer intake side too to accomodate this mod. but that wouldn't matter if you aren't racing...

I put mine on yesterday. It has been raining here in Houston, so I don't have any performance info... other than I smoked the rear meats without trying in 1st... and scratched them going into 2nd.

I'll go into more detail a while later when the boss isn't over my shoulder.

koda: I just bolted on the stainless system from MBRP part # s4025. For the difference in price I would go for it!! The stainless system will probably outlast the truck. I think the Viper GTS system exits below the licence plate, just like on the viper. I agree jcyr, it does sound great. My reg cab 4.7 5spd sounds awesome revving at 4000rpm. I drive around with the rear sliding window open so I can hear it. It cost me 678.00 (CDN) including taxes and shipping, and only took a week to arrive. There are a couple of drawbacks: my cat. III trailer hitch and my spare tire had to be removed to clear the tailpipes.

I have a custom bent (Magnaflow) dual exhaust on my 4x4 4.7 Quad Cab. Cost about $700. I started with an 18" straight resonator (muffler) and it literally sounded like a speedboat. Holy Cow was it loud! It was painful to be in the cab at 55MPH. Towing was even louder and uphills were nausiating. I added a 12" resonator in tandem with the 18" resonator to bring it down a notch, and the sound is now sweet! A bit loud under a full load or towing but not painful. Outside it just sounds awesome. The deep sound shakes the ground. Sometimes I ask my wife to run an errand in my truck just to hear it returning down the street. Sounds like a speedboat still, but a badass speedboat. Love to leave it in second gear and decend down a hill at about 25mph, glug, glug, glug! Sweet! Fast as all hell too!

Oh yeah, because it was custom bent, I kept the spare tire and trailer hitch intact.

I posted my true dual expierence on the "performance" section. Take a read, and take it with a grain of salt. In the end, it is your truck. It should be loud.

Flowmaster makes more than just loud mufflers. The short turbo-type is a 40 series, and is loud. The 50 series is 16" long, and somewhat quieter. My favorite is the 70 series at 22" long, and sounds great out the back without any annoying floorboard noise. Real loud exhaust can get old after awile; the 70 series is "cake and eat it too": performance AND sound quality. I have 2 1/2" duals behind the muffler on my '01 RC 4.7.
