Subject: Changing the T Stat IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 CC 4.7 with the heavy duty service group. I was wondering if it is worth installing a 180 T Stat seeing that the temp never gets higer than a 1/4 of the way, if that.
and if I were to do it, how hard is it to change??
thanks

Message: It is not hard to change, the only hard part is cleaning off the old gasket. The reason for changing the t-stat is not cause of overheating, but to give your engine a little bit of power. A cooler engine runs better, but if you are not going to do any mods don't bother.

Message: The only thing that I have so far is just the exhaust. I was thinking about a intake. But I don't know yet. Other than that, not to sure. My budget only allows for so much...

Message: Yo' Big" Leave stock intake on the 4.7. and the T-stat is somewhat of a challenge, located on the lwr hose near block. Not much room, just bloody knuckles you will have after, and there is no gasket just a Rubber O-ring seal. I like the 180 in mine. runs cooler and seems to have ridden the pinging problem i had, even with 87 Octane, no ping.
