Subject: Radiator hose IP: Logged
Message: I changed my lower radiator hose and forgot to put the metal spring back in. Will it be O.K without it or do I have to do it over?

Message: The spring is in there to keep the hose from pinching shut. This is more apt to happen when the hose gets old and flimsy. Did your new hose have the spring in it? If it didn't, it doesn't need it.
I have left it out on other vehicles without any problems. Watch the hose while someone revs the engine to see if it looks like it is squeezing together. If not it might be okay. You can try it for a while and see if it gives you any problems.
