Message: I have an 00 Q-cab with 4.7 and am in the process of installing a 5th wheel hitch. I went to several of the RV dealerships here locally and they all didnt see a problem with it since I am also putting airbags on the rear. They actually beleave that with the air bags, i can move the hitch aft of the rear axle 2 inches and not negatively impact my safety. I'm towing a 21ft glide lite camper that doesnt come close to the max weight. I was pulling an old 77 Nomad that weighed a ton. The Dak pulled it better than my 5.7 chevy though.

Message: if you can't afford the gas in it, don't mod it for better gas mileage unless you are thinking long term. the money you spend for that reason will take a long time to recoup.

Message: Most of us are lucky to seen more than 13-14 in the city. These trucks simply do not get good mileage, and the mods that you can do to increase mileage are too expensive. Will take several years to recoup the cost in gas savings.
