Subject: abs/brake light on w/different PCM IP: Logged
Message: Installed a Durango PCM in my Dakota and although it runs better (see my other post)the abs and brake lights come on. I've read the posts about this being traced to the rear ABS sensor, so I'm thinking I may need to change to a Durango sensor...or is it because I don't have 4-wheel ABS and the Durango PCM is looking for the front sensor?

Message: the reason your abs/brake lights are on is because you have a VIN mismatch between the PCM and your CAB (Controller Antilock Brake) the VIN is programmed into the PCM and cannot be removed. as long as you have the PCM from the Durango in your Dak the lights will stay on. if you had a DRBIII and knew what you were doin with it you could probably change the VIN in the PCM. your not supposed to be able to do it but i have found a way but only some of the DRBIII software versions will do it. sorry.

Message: i installed a computer on my 99 r/t last year and the lights have also been on. It's no big deal. I just don't want to pay the dealer $70 to put my vin in the new computer. The lights being on doesn't hurt anything.
