Subject: Latest Dyno number on 4.7
IP: Logged

Message:
Dynoed the truck today (2K 4.7L V8 w/ Auto). I have the following engine modifications:
Mike Leach PCM Flash
F&B Throttle Body (70MM)
2x2.25" Magnaflow exhaust (Duals)
Intense Performance 4" Z-Tube
Bosch +4 4417's

Here where my three runs:
1) HP = 221.0/TQ = 267.4
2) HP = 218.7/TQ = 290.3 (Early Shift)
3) HP = 223.7/TQ = 278.8

All in all, not bad, considering stock is should've been around 190HP. What's next:

1) That mean looking GTS hood from Premiere Automotive (From what I've heard from Jonas, the 4.7L intake for that hood is going to be awesome!
2) Ported/Polished Heads
3) Cams.
4) 180T-STAT (I know, won't add any ponies, but it'll help it run a tad cooler)

We'll go from there

The 4.7L is 190hp stock? What is it torque wise?

I know the 3.9 is supposed to be something like 175hp stock... I would have thought the 4.7 to be a bit more than that.

I'm sorry. It computes to about 190HP at the WHEELS stock. 2000's where either 230 or 235HP stock (I forget what the CA emissions one was), and 295TQ stock. If you take 20 percent of 235 (For driveline loss), you get 188HP/236TQ. Now, I don't know if Dodge is under/over rating these engines at all, as I never got a baseline run stock. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, it was a dynojet. Here is the link:

Dyno graph

As far as the cams go, I was thinking of the HO cams. Anyone know how big a difference these cams will make?

I think I am the only one who has done it but I did it in the winter. I have been waiting for 3 weeks or more for the roads to be half desent. As far as I can tell so far more torque thus far.

Good numbers!! Does anyone have a stock dyno run to post? I have noticed on the dyno sheets, they never show the low rpms, why is that?

The reason most dyno pulls start at around 3000 rpm is because most vehicles that get dyno pulls are automatics. You need to use a 1:1 gear for the pull, so it needs to be in 3rd gear. If you try and start the pull from a lower rpm it will downshift to 2nd anyway. My dyno pull with a 5-speed started at about 1800 rpm.

I just PEN CAM'd my "stock" dyno run.

I have a 2000 SLT reg cab 4.7 5-spd 3:92's.

The 201 RWHP & 273 RWTQ was going WOT 1st through red-line in 4th.

The first run was running it up to 4th, dropping the hammer at 1,700 RPM.

Hope to improve on these numbers very soon!

pres319 there is a difference between engine horsepower and rear wheel horsepower. The engine puts out 235 but you lose power through the drivetrain so the actual power getting to the asphalt is around 190 stock. All vehicles are like that!
