Message: i just had an idea about puttin a 4.7 in my 96 v6. i have the ax15 manual tranny and was just wondering if it could handle it. what do the v8s have in there(4.7, 5.2, 5.9) so i know if i need a new tranny also? thanks, Steve

Message: I know that this is originally Steve Calabro's post, but maybe, just maybe this will help him some as well... How hard would it be to switch from the AX15 to the NV3500hd??? I have a 99' 2wheel drive Dakota with the 3.9l V6 mag... The current AX15 is almost on it's very last legs...
That includes grinding and having to force into gear... I know it's not the clutch, because just got replaced about 2 or 3 months ago and was giving minor trouble even then... Now grinds into 3rd, forced or grinds into 2nd, and 1st has to be shifted into while sitting still... Shifts better if little warm "not hot" and if low speed going down hills... Almost like all syncros or shifting forks are completely wore out...
Is there a 6 speed out there fairly priced and easy to switch to??? Would much rather have a higher speed/fuel milleage 6 speed if possible...
Oh and Steve you might want to look into Keislerauto.com for a good hd 5 and 6 speed for that big of an engine... Just thought I would point out that they are pricy though...

Message: You know from other people on here, it's my understanding that the AX15 is a virtually bullit proof tranny... By this I mean that it has sealed bearings and only requires oil for the gears and syncro's... The AX15 is also one of the tranny's that come stock in most jeep stick shifts, "but I'm sure they get changed out before extreme rock crowling and such"... Also it is my understanding that "ALL" Dodge tranny's have syncro sticking problems and Dodge is now offering a steel syncro kit for the AX15's to replace the cheap A$$ brass one's, so just maybe I and some others on here might be better off to rebuild the tranny's and put a set of those nice steel syncro kits into it... Would be easier as far as having to modify everything for a different tranny wouldn't it???
Anyone know the part numbers and price for the steel syncro's??? How about the rebuild kits... You can ussually get the rebuild kits for around $150 on ebay from other company's... Is this around reasonable???
Any thoughts at all on this???

I am currently developing a six speed kit that will cost considerable amount less than the kits available right now. This kit will use the Viper T-56 that has a 0.5 overdrive and should be available soon.

Message: How much and will it fit in a 99' dodge dakota w/3.9l reg cab, short wheel base?, with stock driveshaft??? Will I have to replace the crossmember or bar or support or whatever it is???

Message: What all exactly does the kit come with? For that much it ought to come with new clutch kit and everything shouldn't it? I'm sure this would take a different spline and heavier clutch to begin with wont it. When you say around do you mean like 2500 and up to 3500 depending on application? I was personally hoping for around 2500, but maybe I will get it for that :// Depending on current budjet. It does have steel syncros through 3rd gear doesn't it, because that's what I need to know more than almost anything else right now :)) That's main issue with current tranny.

Message: The kit that is being developed will work with both of your trucks. It will have the proper clutch setup and will not have any problems handling your trucks. It will be at least $3000 because it will use the Viper T-56 that is over 600 horsepower capable.

Message: Alright, be sure to let us know what the final asking price will be ; )) When exactly is this going to be available? Next week or so I hope:)) This is a lot cheaper than the 6 speed that keisler has... They want around 45 for theirs, but theirs also comes with EVERYTHING, which I am now seeing that this one does too... Also comes with bellhousing and rear ouput shaft part too right? And the sensor "shift indicator I think" will interchange easy enough? I know I'm getting a little edgy and asking a lot of questions, but I want to make sure everything is going to work. Stock or new flywheel? Is a company your working for making this or is it your company making it? That'll let me know a little bit more on what to look forward to as far as better price range:))

Message: hey t-56 guy, i have changed my mind in the last couple weeks and now want to keep my v6 and supercharger it. i know that i will have to replace my engine and tranny, but will my 'stock' stuff handle about 300-350hp? that would be easiest if i could just put rebuilt stuff, or maybe just stuff with stronger insides. thanks, Steve
