Subject: Engine Surging IP: Logged
Message: Curious if anyone is familar with why my 97 5.2l tend to surge now.
Just started to happen a few months ago. Will be idling in park and the engine revs to 1200 rpms give or take7, then dies back down to just over 600 rpms
When I got it new in 97 normal parked idle was 1000-1100 rpms. Took into the dealer to get some warranty repair done after a year or so (A/C compressor, I believe) and noticed the parked idle rpm at 600 - asked the dealer I took it to about it and was told it is within factory specs - I'm getting tired of that staement from Dodge dealers
Anyway thought I post and see what king of response I get.

Message: Sorry to hear about the surging man. I have over 99,000 on my 99 4x4 5.2 and it runs great still. mine has idled around 600 from day one. I I think it might idle a little faster when its cold, but I'm not positive. Of course when the AC compressor first kicks on anytime it will drop down 50-100 rpm, but then should compensate and return to original speed.
