Message: Your right the reason i left the message is because one of my good friends Scott has a 2000 dakota and we plan on taking the trans am and the dakota to holt florida and race every sun he is slowly bolting on stuff and i am starting too! putting a chip and hooker headers and pipes this weekend looking to put 40s all the way around and have a set of slicks for sun cant wait!I only drive this car on the weekends. Its a 98 with 70,000 miles, for some reason the 98 had quicker times than other years ran right there with the corvette z1 it was also quicker than the camero z28........i was waiting for scott to respond to the message when the bone head started talking SMACK and trust me if i was there in the T/A she would rather ride in the bird with the tops off than in your truck!

Message: Her parents also have a 97 camaro z-28 that "had" the lt1, now it is done to an lt-4, and has just under 400 dyno proven RWHP it is also a t-top, and is the sweetest camaro I have ever seen, and the only one I will ever be seen in. It has run low 12's and is n/a, she would rather ride in my truck that the camaro any day. Besides, It is easier to get some in a dakota, than a t/a, All we gotta do is fold up the console, or open the roof, or lay in the bed on the bedrug. trust me dude, you might like your little shaggin wagon, but I love my fukk truck. plus my insurance is a lot cheaper.

Message: pousson,
I agree with the 98 being the fastest R/T. I've owned a 98 and a 2000. The 98 was a full sencond faster. Dodge lies so much. They changed something after 1999. I don't have a clue what it might be, but I do know a bone stock 98-99R/T will blow the doors off the 2001-2003. The 2000 model is in between. The 2001-2003 models I've driven have nothing after 4000 RPM's. The 2000 pulls fine up to about 4900RPM. The 98's pulled hard all the way to 5500RPM. That's why the new 2002-3 4.7L Daks can out run the 2002-3 R/t's. Line a 4.7L up against a 98 or 99 R/T and the R/T will win by a truck length everytime. What's really strange is that my 98R/T ran faster than my 2000R/T and it got the same 17mpg that my 2002 4.7L got.

Message: I believe that the cats were also different, along with the programming of the PCM from the factory. My 99 with limited bolt-ons was a quick truck, and I believe it would have faired nicely at an 1/8 mile track.

Message: The last time i ran my '99 R/T it ran a best of 14.7 at 92 mph in the 1/4 mile. The big problem with these trucks is there weight and the lack of weight in the rear. I know that if it hooked better low to mid 14's would be easy. I wish more people would put out some actual numbers on here to compare and what they have done to achieve them. That could help out everybody with a Dakota. At the time i last raced my truck i had the mopar perfomance headers, mopar perfomance camshaft and valve springs and a K&N filter. I have since added some other goodies but have till wait until spring to see what they have done.
