Message: i've just recently decieded to modify my 98 4x4. i have k&n fit to the perforated 14" stock tube, added a terminater pipe, 180 stat! and-
foolishly (from what i read) ordered a airraid spacer! it hasn't arrived yet, but thinking i should send it back and order a 50mm throttle body?
i just found this post and think it has some colorful oppinions. any suggestions are welcome!
p.s. supercharger sounds great but i think i'll work my way up as funds are available.

Message: IMHO get gears, they are the best bang for the buck. get some 4.10's in there and it should be like night and day. also, you might look for an aftermarket intake, and even heads and a cam if you really want to get serious

Message: the 4.10's might be a little high if you highway drive most, i would get the mopar pcm to start, it was a good mod for me

Message: 3.90's with overdrive equals a sweet 2.70ish final drive, just like a lot of older 3-speed Mopars. Ditch the spacer. Only problem with high-perf. PCM is the premium fuel requirement. If you're gonna open up the intake, follow that with exhaust mods. Then, if you want more, add a better engine controller.

Message: i sincerely doubt if the 4.10's will be too much considering the big tires and generous O/D ratio...

Message: well 3.92's or 4.10's, gears are the best bang for the buck...exhaust is definitely a great thing to do, too

Message: Mopar perf headers with included y pipe and full 3in exhast was the 2nd best mod, pcm was best. but if you tow it might not be your best choice. have not done gears because I do mostly highway driving, but they make sense espcially if you tow.
