Message: I'm going to be towing a trailer soon and was wondering where the best place to get a hitch would be?
Pretty easy install I'm guessing so I could do it my self. How would I run the wiring though?
This is for a '01 Dakota4.7 sport/2wd

Message: I had u-haul put one on my previous Dak. Easy job for them, and I never had any problems with it or the wiring they did. But if I had problems I knew that there were thousands of u-haul places around the country to fix it.
Or you could find a local RV and trailer service place and they'd be able to hook you up very easily as well, and they might have more options than u-haul in terms of models, wiring, etc.

Message: I have the factory hitch that came with mine that I want to sell. I lowered my truck and I'm not going to use it so I took it off. I live in southern california if your interested. I'll ship it wherever. Just name a price.
The dealers sell wiring kits for the hitches.

Message: I am far from a mechanic, but I bought a Hidden Hitch for $99 at a local dealer and installed it in about 30 minutes (instructions say it is a 15 to 30 minute job for an amatuer). The wiring cost me $26 and took about 15 minutes to grease up, plug in and wire tie in place. Toal job was about $130 plus 45 minutes ( I did have to buy a 19mm deep well socket as my reular sockets were not deep enough to remove a factory bolt).

Message: fwiw...for just a couple of $$ more I went with the Mopar (dealer) Class III/IV hitch and wire harness (4pin). I compared to hiddenhitch and uhaul and thought the mopar was better construction, the wire box was enclosed and didnt have 2 configurations which i didnt need, and it had a better chain bar vs a hole to pass it thru. Also I wanted an exact match to factory bolts. AN added bonus, i got a rams-head runbber receiver plug and 2 wire adapters, which I would have had to buy extra. The wire harnes was a nobrainer.. all loomed and sealed, with all ties included. Very heavy and plugged right in. NO exposed wires, which you get with wal-mart type harnesses.
Looks good, has the weight rating and a Mopar warranty. Worth the $$ as I said.

Message: almost forgot... total price for the Mopar parts was something like hitch: $139 and harness $50. Took about an hour to align, bolt up and torque.
