Probably a little, but not much. Maybe a couple of rwhp. But thats about it. Nothing you'd notice.

I've heard that all the studies done say the Flowmasters do nothing...I just find it hard to believe people would shell out money and effort for virtually nothing.

Most people buy flowmasters for the sound. If you want an exhaust that actually makes horsepower you'll have to pay for it. Go to gsmotorsports.com. There you will find an expensive, but kicka$$ true dual exhaust.

As I posted on another thread, I just installed part number 842542 which is a stainless steel center in offset out 2.5" muffler. Just swapped the muffler in, no change in pipes, no tip added.

I was VERY pleased. It sounds like a 60s mopar on the outside and very deep mellow tone in the cab. I have a 2003 Quad Cab 4x4 4.7L with a 5spd manual.

Like CThomp said, no major HP gain, but I did gain a little low-end and the truck accelerates very smooth.

To honestly describe the sound to you, it is very close to the 50 series clip of the Dodge Ram with the 5.9 on flowmasters website, but just a little louder.

Total cost was 84.95 + 8.45 handling fee from summit racing, and $35 install fee at local muffler shop.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be posting pics and hopefully a sound file soon. Look for the pics at dodgetruckworld.com under my username hemimopar426.

Ditto Ernie. I have a 2000 CC 2WD 4.7L 5speed with a Flowmaster 40 series catback with a 3 inch inlet and two 2-1/2 inch outlets. The setup sounds mean and helps the low end a bit (power begins to come on at ~1700 rpms instead of ~1900 as it did stock). Be warned, however, this setup makes it difficult for the back seat passengers to hear.

I plan on adding a dual exhaust to my truck by Christmas. I don't know much of anything about the different choices I have, so I'll ask for some help based on the following information.

Truck: STL Plus 2002 QC 4.7 4x4 with a 3.55 rear end (two toned patriot blue with silver, that mean no chrome bumpers, silver plastic coated)

Goal of dual: three fold - appearance, sound and milage improvement

Main question: I've been told by a few auto parts stores that installing a single muffler with the split outflow the way to go in the Dak because of the lack of space under the truck to get two mufflers and cat. converters. Thoughts? Is this true? It does look pretty tight under the truck.

Other questions:
What muffler gives the most bang for it's buck? (I don't want to spend big bucks.) Flowmaster, Gibson, Edelbrock, other? More concerned about milage over sound, but do want a good deep sound.

Does the size of the exhaust tailpipe change the sound? If so, does a 2 1/2" have a deeper sound then 2 1/4"? If so, I assume a 3" would be even deeper.

What size chrome tips look best? (I do have a chrome grill and stainless steel nerf bars, so it's won't be the lone chrome on the truck.) Are stainless steel tips worth spending the extra cash?

Anything else I should know or consider? Thanks in advance.

I have my stock exhaust on my 03 4X4 4.7 with a Flowmaster 40 series delta-flow. I used a 3 inch muffler (because Lopers book said my truck used a 3 inch, they were wrong) and reduced down to my stock 2 1/2 inch pipe.
I also used a 3 inch tail pipe.

I tell you it sounds very good and people ask what I have because of it.

It has none of the typical FLOWMASTER drone at cruising speeds either. With the windows up it's not very loud in the cab either.

I just got done from towing my quads to the dunes in Cali and back and I loved the sound of my truck the whole time!

I'm planning on going to true duals, probably with highflow cats and somewhere around 2 inch maybe 2 1/4 inch pipes to the mufflers then maybe 2 1/2 out of the mufflers and 3 inch at the tips to make it even louder.

My truck sounds like a Mustang GT. You have to admit the exhausts on those cars sounds good!
