Message: So, I go into the stealership about a month ago, cxause I had a little time to kill. On the window sticker on the new Dak/4x4/4.7 with auto, it says one can expect to get 26-28 MPG HWY. I ask the salesman, "why you guys gotta lie like that??"
He says, "no lie sir, that's what they're gettin."
Since that day, I've asked everybody I see in a Dak,"what you gettin for mileage??"
The common answer has been 20-21 hwy and 14 city. One guy did say he gets 28 in his 4.7 quad 2wd
(I'm hard pressed to believe that)
So why am I gettin 14.5 hwy and 10 city??
I don't bag it, I just drive like a regular joe.
The dealer said at the last major service that all computer readings are well within the normal range.
I drive a 2000/4x4 sport/4.7/ext cab. 3.55 gears. 7.25 up front, 9.25 tracloc in the rear, and factory 31's. It's got 112K on it(80,000M) The trans case is the one with an actual 2wd space on the selector stick. the only thing that I have done to it is install a K&N replacement element air filter, and I got suckered into buying a "Tornado" thing for the airstream (wich was a total waste of $$, Thanx for asking)
So what is wrong with this picture guys???
Is this really normal, or is there somthing that I should be doing different??

Message: All the info they use to come up with those numbers is tested at cruzing speed under absolutely perfect conditions. You'll be hard pressed to try and get their milage!!!

Dodge calculates the MPG theoretically with the truck going downhill, wind at your back, in the thinnest air possible.
Be wary of anything manufacturers tell you (not just Dodge, ANY). They're only numbers and they can massage numbers with "variables" to get what they want. Just the way business is.

Message: You are not understanding, I've asked lost of Dak owners for their numbers too; and still, Mine are comparatively terrible. It's not just theoretical stuff here.

Message: Your milage is low, I get 15 and have to tow 4000 lbs to lower it to 11 mpg.

Message: I have an 03 4x4 4.7 reg. cab 5 speed stick and get 17 -18.5 mpg combined. When I tow my two sleds I get from 14-16.
