Subject: Wanting to RUMBLE..... IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I've looked all day on this forum and found three setups of exhaust systems. I'm wanting a loud outside, quiet inside, deep "rumble" for my truck. I've found 3 things that seem to work.
1- Flowmaster dual 2.5'' turndowns
2- Flowmaster dual 2.5'' split into four tips at back of bed
3- Flopro???? single 3'' straightpipe
Price isn't that big of a deal but cheaper is always better.... Thanx for all help.

Message: I don't know about Raven, but I went with the 40 series flowmaster with a single 3" pipe out the back. I went with single b/c it gives just a tad more power then duals...so says the majority of people on this site. I thought it would be much louder then it actually is. I think b/c of the 3" tail pipe. If I stayed stock size then it might have been louder but now it's just really really deep. Sounds great actually. When at idle you can actually feel the rumble, not just hear it!!! It doesn't have as much interior noise as I thought it would, of course I'm some what young so my def is different then others. Doesn't bother me at all even on long trips which I take once a month. If you dumped it after the muffler with the flowmaster then I could see much more noise then what I hear now but that pipe I have kind of dampens it a little.

Message: Well the main benefit of getting a "Ravin'" from Midas is... "Lifetime Warranty".
I plan on keepin' my truck for some time, so those 2 words are "golden" in my book...and to tell the truth, they sound good as well.

my 2 chamber flowmaster with stock pipes is
quiet at certain RPM's, but if I cruise at 65mph
on the freeway, its loud.
will a Single outlet gibson catback with the 3"
pipe and 4" tip make it louder? I WANT LOUD
ALL THE TIME!!!!!! (p.s I know headers would
help.)

Message: The Dyno Max "Ultra-flo" is a deep powerfull sound ,all rumble and no rap even with headers. It is a bit louder than stock inside ,quiet on the freeway ,outside it's a sound you can feel.If RUMBLE is what you want get the Ultra-flo , $199 for the SS kit from Jeg's.The muffler is a 6"x18" jumbo glass pack but kills the rap great.I have one on a 5.2 with headers , power is up in the entire rpm range.Flomasters are loud in the cab.

muffler only? is it the same company as
magnaflow? I love the look of the side swept
Gibson, but so far, have heard they are not too
loud and sometimes take power away.

Message: The Ultra-flo is made by Walker exhaust and sold under the brand name "Dyno Max" . The Ultra-flo comes cat back and muffler only.Be sure to get the Ultra-flo and not the Super turbo . Web sites to check out ( www.dynomax.com ) ( www.a-1performance.com ) ( www.jegs.com ) . The pipes are thick and the muffler is heavy , $199.00 is a great price for a system this good . Summit had it but wanted $68.00 to ship it , Jeg's was only $6.99 s&h.

an Ultra-Flo round muffler, 3" in/out 16 "L
--- $109.99---- it looks like a muffler only, I dont
see a catback system, for $20 more, I could
get the XR-1 Sportsman race muffler by Borla,
wouldnt that be louder? would it be street
legal???? (I live in California)
p.s. sorry to ask so many questions #(

Message: 98 CC Slt 4x4 5.2, after cat dual 2¼ with 24"x3½" tips no muffler. good rumble at idle (louder than my 400hp 358ci s-10) good sound up to 2500, then it really gets loud. I can be heard from a mile plus away. also - my tire noise masks the exhaust. (31x10.5" BFG muds)

Message: I recently got an MBRP 14" muffler from Jonas and it is awesome. When I romp on it, people turn their heads. Everybody that has riden in the truck loves the sound. I believe it also has a lifetime warranty since it is SS. Cost should be about $140 or so plus $30 labor to have it installed.

Message: I have a 99' R/T with a stock exhaust. To give it more rumble I went to the local muff shop and bought a 19" piece of 2 1/2 I.D. pipe for $5.
I had them put two 10 degree bends about 5 " from each end to duplicate the offset the muffler created and I just replaced the muffler with the pipe. Sounds great, runs great, just have to keep your foot out of it when the cops are close..lol.. I don't have an e-check here but the cat and sensors are still there so the emissions really are unchanged. I also built a simple ram-air, cold intake out of chimney pipe but thats another story. it works great too.. talk about low buck.. I've saved alot of money doin the R&D myself ..lol

Cat is GONE, Have 2 1/2" Dropped after the cab with a 20" Cherry Bomb...That's fairly quiet....now...the other little piece on my truck came from JC Whitney. Exhaust Cutout...I have a little lever under my dash...when I pull that I'm running straight out of the Y-Pipe...now THATS a rumble =)
Not bad at all for a $20 part. BTW if anyone uses this method...by sure to weld a spring to the cutout to keep it closed and prevent a nasty rattle
