Message: Its currently 34 degrees outside, sunny, dry, and my truck loves it! Went out for lunch, and coudln't help but break the back loose on every corner and listen to the engine purrr with minimum effort...
How my HP difference will it be when it hits 110 outside, anyone know?

Message: Why does it reccomend that you get the 180 t stat vs. the 160 on the speed tweaks website?
I would think the 160 would be better???
Maybe it puts extra stress on the cooling system...?

Message: Engines need a certain level of heat to perform efficiently. The stock 'stat heats everything and makes emissions lower, while a 180 seems to make for a good all around operating temp. A 160 will help keep things on the liveable temp side when running the rig hard, in hot ambients or with significant performance adders. What I understand to be really important is the density of the air/fuel mix going into the engine. More dense=more power. [That's why a roots blower or turbosupercharger perform better with an intercooler, and typicaly a twin screw or centrifugal supercharger generaly won't need the intercooler]. As only a guess (I don't claim great expertise, only logic), I'd expect that with a lower engine temp the computer might run the fuel ratios a bit richer-like the choke being closed a bit. I don't know if the computer could learn the lower temp is proper-check plug color to find out.

Message: I would think that since I'm running a blower, I would need a 160 t-stat. I am in Texas, and will be doing some occasional racing. some say that is too cool, while others say its perfect for blown engines. any ideas on this one?

Message: Feel badly for you guys! Visit the Pacific Northwest. Yeah, sometimes a bit wet, but really nice the bulk of the year. I'm an hour from the coast [to the west, duh] and an hour from excellent skiing/boarding on Mt. Hood. Add another 30 min. and I'm into high desert. Visit-ya might like it. [Might even compare with Texas!],...D
