Message:
hey guys, finished my motor swap (5.2L) got it fired up but it has a rough idle and seems to "not be all there" when I rev it up.
What I've checked already is:
1) put a t-light on all plug wires to verify that there is no cross/miss fire in the ignition, -looks good. didn't verify the timing though.
2) plugged a vacuum guage into the intake manifold and measured 20 in of steady vacuum so I don't suspect a v-leak
3) with a cheep auto stethescope I verified that all the injectors are working (sounds like it anyway) and also prior to putting the intake on I took a quick look at the injectors and they visually looked o.k.
This motor is used and supposedly had 150-160 comp on all cylinders. Oil pressure is good and the cooling system also appears to be good.
I did swap the plenum gasket with a dodge replacement (which was a metal gasket by the way). And installed a new intake manifold gasket.
I did not verify my plug wire install (didn't think of it until this morning) but it doesn't seem to be running bad enough to have swapped wires.
Any thoughts from the experts out there? I hope I provided enough background info...
ALL suggestions would be really appreciated.
TIA -Steve

Message: Did you change cap, rotor, wires and plugs? It sounds like a plain old misfire.

Message: New Dodge cap/rotor, original plugs that came with the motor cleaned & regapped to .035", old wires, but ohm'ed out to be good. I also put a timing light on each cylinder and verified that there is no cross firing going on. The next step I guess would be to add some fuel injector cleaner to the tank & drive it for a bit and see how it runs after that. The wires & coil came from the old motor, the fuel injectors however are the ones that came with the motor.
