Ok here's the deal, I've got a 1998 Dakota Club Cab 5.2L V8 and I recently had purchased the AEM Brute Force. What a POS. AEM states on their site fits all "Dodge Dakota 1997-99 5.2L All" What a crock of fuking shlt. Whoever was at the R&D department over there the day they created that thing was smoking some heavy dope. The intake pipe routes into the fuking AC line about 1" from it. The heat shield had to be modified as well and still did not fit. They didn't include the AEM power spacer which it was supposed to as well. Very Disappointed considering my friends with trucks, Chevy Trucks, had raved about them.

So I'm looking at either getting the Volant now or the FIPK Gen 2. I'm looking for someone that has installed either of these systems on my truck and has some pictures. I don't mind either system. I know that the volant works as they have a pic on their site.

As you can see in that picture the Volant fits with the filter before the AC line. If you also take notice at the end of the filter that's where the god damned AEM short ram ended up without the intake filter on! Needless to say, AEM’s getting back their ASS force and I’m going to get something else.

Help a fellow DAK owner!!!

Don't waste your time! Build your own!! Same performance1/3 the cost. BTW, Just got back from a 2,300 mile road trip averaging 75 MPH, in 90+degree weather, and occaisonal rain downpours, Pulling a car and carrier and my Homebrew intake performed flawlessly!! Plenty of power and NO, it didn't melt either!!! Total savings on the intake system of at least $200.

I have a 97 5.2 and have installed the K&N FIPK and it went in just fine. The filter portion fits snugly into the area provided. Also, if you haven't already, you may want to remove the rubber shield thingie that is between the radiator and right headlamp. This will allow more are to flow into the filter area. I have photos at home and if you want, I'll send them to you.

The K&N FIPK Gen 2 fit flawlessly on my truck. The more and more companies that I've talked to about the AEM brute force just give the brute force a bad name and highly recommend the Volant or the K&N.

Food For Thought, Don't go with AEM.
