Subject: Engine diagnostic computer light IP: Logged
Message: My engine on board diagnostic light came on (it's the light that looks like an engine in the "idiot" light chain) and I would like to know if this has happend to anyone else here, if so, what was your outcome?
In the owners manual its says its related to the on board diagnostic computer and the emmision control system. I have an '01 Quad Cab w/ a 4.7l engine.
Someones help would be appreciated!

Message: If you can get an ODB-II scanner and plug er into the jack in the foot well, it'll tell you exactly what its bitching about. Apparently you can also turn ignition to the on (not start) the off then on...... a few times and it'll give you an error code in the digital odo too, but not sure how to get anything of meaning outta that code but you could ask here.

Message: Reading a code is only the first step in diagnosis. Often, a single code can result in many different repairs. There are testing procedures for each code that should be followed in order to determine actual failure. The code, contrary to popular info, does not tell you what part(s) to replace.
