Subject: The PERFECT Shift Kit IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1998 Dakota, 318 w/ multispeed transmission.
My engine speed is low (about 2000 RPM) when the transmission shifts. This can be nice on quiet Sunday drives, but it always shifts about the same spot. I do not care for this when I am trying to pass someone or accelerate up the on-ramp.
The truck will by-pass this problem if I push it to Wide Open Throttle (WOT), but this is a little severe. I don't really want the hard shifts that are associated with the typical shift kit, but I would like to change the “feel” of my tranny.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not trying to build a hot rod, but pulling the engine above 2000 RPM without going to WOT would be nice. Or, does something on my automatic needs adjusting? I'd be happy to hear from those of you who would know how to do that!

Message: You can adjust the tv cable it will give you later shifts and a little firmer. The cable is next to your TB on the left. There is a website that explains how to do it in detail but I can't remember the address..I usually just do a search for "tv cable adjustments on a dodge truck" and the second or third choice should be it. He is doing it on a Ram but the same should apply to you also. later
