I just had my Rotors refaced and i installed new brake pads. All i really need to know is that when brake pads wear down, does the caliper slide side to side to compensate for the lost brake pad material? I noticed when i torqued down the 2 bolts, the caliper felt a tiny bit loose. Ohh by the way, it was a 92 dakota LE that i worked on.

the caliper doesnt move. the piston inside the caliper moves inward as the brakes get worn down. the caliper itself doesnt move side to side
it just rides on the 2 pins

The caliper is located on two pins. The pins allow side to side movement to compensate for pad wear. Once again some trailer park trash is wrong.

When will these dead wrong liars FO&D?

(a non-panzi response)

Right after the brake job the piston is all the way back in the caliper. They should feel a little loose right when you're done. Once you start it up and pump the brakes several times, it will tighten up against the rotor and take the slack out.

And yes, it does slide on the pins to compensate for lost pad material.

Again, unlike some that post on this sight, I try to refrain from being a PANZI.

Ryan (an non-panzi)
