Subject: O2 sensor help IP: Logged
Message: Had a check enginge light come on. Ran computer diagnostic and says "O2 sensor malfunction, Bank #2 sensor #2." Any input/advice on replacing this would be greatly appreciated. Where is the best place to obtain a new one and about what should it cost. 2001 QC 4.7 43K miles. Thanks

Message: I got mine at Auto Masters for $63 each. They are Standard, not Bosch :(
Use a 7/8" wrench, the O2 socket wouldn't work, no room.

Message: Not sure what bank two is, but some Daks have two and some have three O2's. I would make sure which one it is before you change one. If you only have two, I would guess that it's the one after the cat. Autozone sells the Bosch for around $70 if I remember correctly. Just be prepared to have a biatch of a time getting the old one out.

Message: Just a little advice....
Taking out the O2 sensors is a bitch don't let the employees of Autozone or some other place tell you that you need the special socket for the job... Use either a 7/8 or a pair of handy dandy vice grips... But make sure you unplug the sensor before taking it out. Also, spray the sensor with a little WD40 the night before you take it out will make it a hell of alot easier to get out.
On another note... as for a KATBOX or SIMMS Sensor to trick the system into thinking the Cat has not been removed... Well I have heard two different stories... My truck has the two 02 sensor system and I was told that it would be fine just to take the cat out and would not need those extra sensors and such... I'm taking mine out this weekend and we will see what happens... Bottom line computers suck!

Message: T-Bone...
You can get a cat-back box, that is what it is called. KRC Performance sells them. I think they cost like $75 for a single or $125 for a duel. I have them on my truck. I have an 01 RT i put the pph headers with krc's custom y-pipe...cats removed...and the gibson 3inch cat back setup. The boxes worked great. I have had them on for 2 months and no problems.
