Message: Eddie,
I run midgrade gasoline (89), that is what you are supposed to run. It runs 87 with no problem. The owners manual actually states not to run anything more than midgrade.

Message: I still see the factory airbox and factory airbox snorkel in place meaning that nothing more than a K&N drop in filter could be in place, as to the dual TB's I'm sorry for jumping the gun with that. Hemi, I saw that 89 is the recommended ocatane, would anything higher hinder combustion?? I've read where high test isn't always better?

the biggest clue of the dual TB is the two hold down nutz on the top of the airhat.

Message: Yeh, I see your points :)) I just figured "guess that was my first mistake" that this was the hemi conversion out now for all of the 318's and 360's... My bad... Well if they fit that in there, what's Dodges problem with putting the new hemi in the Dakotas??? HUHHH... I'de like to have those TB's possibilities on my little V6 :)) But some have pointed out a good point... Where's the cold air intake for them things???

Message: Hey guys,
If you visit www.dodge.com they have a link to info on the new 2005 Dakota. According to them, the HEMI is not going to be an option. There will be 2 V-8's however, and one will be a "performance" version.
Incidently, I bought my 2003 Dakota new and I'm starting to feel like I got $crewed over. I got the 3.9 V6 and I hear the new 3.7 makes better power AND gets 5mpg more. Also, if i'm not mistaken, a new 4.7 V8 Ram even gets better gas mileage than my V6 Dakota. What gives?!?

Message: quadrajet,
Live and learn...too bad you didn't read this forum before you purchased that 3.9L. I did the same thing back in 2001, so don't feel like the Loan Ranger. I traded it in 9 months for a 2002 4.7L. It got better gas mileage than the 2001 3.9L and it is as fast as my 2000 R/T.

Message: 5.7 hemiowner-
How did you race a reg cab 4wd Silverado with a 6.0 V8???? The only Silverado with the 6.0 liter is the Silverado SS, and the motor is out of the Escalade. Sure it wasn't a 5.3? And if it was a 5.3, how did you lose?
everyone else-
The oficial word on the 2005 Dakota is that it will arrive at dealers in September or October, and will be availible with the new 3.7 V6 or the 4.7 V8(although I think there will be 4.7 HO option). My guess is that it will only be a matter of time before Dodge's PVO group drops a Hemi in the Dak and calls it what else, SRT-8. Oh, and there will be six-speed.

Message: Wiplash,
Just curious - what transmission do you have? I was considering doing the same thing you did, but I know there was at least one automatic that I hear the V8's used to make a real mess out of.
I hear the '04s are available with a new 5 speed auto.

Message: quadrajet,
I'm not sure I understand your question. There is a 5spd automatic. It is available on the 2003 4.7 and 5.7L engines. My 2002 4.7L had basically the same transmission, but they called it a "multi-speed" instead of a 5spd.
What are you refering to when you say,"I was considering doing the same thing you did"? Doing what I do can get you in trouble.lol

Message: I was referring to trading up to a V8 model, or possibly even a full size. It depends on how bad the dealer tries to shaft me on the trade in. I really like the Dakotas, but it might not be worth it to take a hit like that unless I move up to a Hemi Ram ST.
