Message: You want loud, go with headers and strait pipes, you will lose an assload of torque but hey its loud. i wouldnt recommend doing it, i got headers on my R/T precats and after cat going into a Flowmaster 40 series muffler, and it will piss off car alarms when im just cruzin by. But also the louder you go the more attention you draw to yourself. you will be more likely to be picked on by cops with the louder exaust.

Message: I had a flowmaster with a single in, dual out. Then I had turn downs about one foot after the muffler exits. The sound would bounce off the ground that would shake the whole truck and set off alarms everywhere. Sound in the cab was LOUD too. I just got a ticket and am now running the duals out to the bumper. Still rumbles, but doesn't shake the ground.

Message: Don't want to be running open headers.
You will have sh*t power unless you have a built engine.
Now if you want LOUD. I just did this very thing recently on my Dak.
2 1/2" pipe from the manifolds, dual 2 1/2" cats, dual Glass packs. Loud as sh*t when you open it up. And I DIDN'T lose power down low that I can tell, and I GAINED power actually from 6,000 to 6500 RPM's.
I've also ran Flowmasters on a few things. They are oloud at idle but NEVER quite get as loud as Glass Packs.
Glass packs make a quieter sound at idle than straight pipe, but damn near as loud as straight pipe when you wind out out!

May have to copy and paste if Mark has HTML off.
It sets off alarms in parking lots really easy, and they don't have to be very close :)

Message: I plan on putting a cutout right after my cat. which will bypass the flowmaster 50 series SUV I already have there. It's just not loud enough for me sometimes, but I still like having a quieter exhaust at 6:00 in the morning. The best of both worlds. I'd run it after the y pipe before the cat but then I couldn't pass the visual inspection here in N. VA.
After my stock exhaust rusts out I'll probably run true duals through Thrush turbo mufflers or possibly glasspacks. But that's not for a while as my stock exhaust is still holding up nicely.
I need the cutout soon because these two camaros in my area think their hot sh!t.

Message: My truck sounds awesome. Its a 2000R/T R.C. exhaust wise I have the PPH headers that go into a 3" Highflow cat(Magnaflow) O2 sim behind the cat, 3" mid-pipe through a Dynomax Ultra-Flo weded race muffler (you can look straight through it), and out through the stock 3" tailpipe. To get it to the muffler shop, I drove it about 10 miles with just open headers. That was by far as loud as you can get.

Message: i agree, i ran my truck a couple of times with just the headers, and once i started it the first time i did it ALL the time
i started it and scared the absolute sh1t out of my mom and sister in law, they both jumped
it was SOOOO sweet, the Y pipe did take it down quite a bit
then the chebbies really get "out louded"

Message: i have a 2002 dakota 4.7, and i was wondering if anyone has but true duals on this year of dakota? also if i did put true duals on it if i would have to do anything else to my truck. i was talking to someone about it and they said it could mess up my back pressure on the engine. is that true?

Message: Seth, I have a 02' 4.7 SPRT and Im running true dual 40 series (Delta Flows) and the truck makes my ears hurt when im under 3000rpms. After i had it welded up i felt the truck gain power even though it seens like my backpressure is kinda iffy but nothing is the matter with running true duals..The truck is loud as hell and i love it.. If your worried about having to do anything to the truck in order to do the duals then just go with a "headers" kit like I did..It bolts straight onto the headers and eliminates the twin cats you would have to run...Try looking in a JC Whitney mag or Website and you'll find the kits real easy

Message: I got a 99 5.2 dakota and got a magnaflow catback put on with gibson headers. What would I have to buy, and is it worth the money and trouble, to convert what I have to a true dual exhaust? Any tips and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Message: Read this board, and you'll get a lot of information about performance mods. What to do depends on your goals, your skills, and your budget.
As for the rev limiter (governer), it's part of the computer program, and can be adjusted with a superchips tuner.
