Message: I rescently had a stalling problem with my 91 dakota. I ran a self test on the computer and it gave me a code 13. A code 13 according to the dodge manual means that the computer is not recieving a signal from the distributer during cranking. The magnetic pickup in the distributor is what sends the signal to the computer, so I replaced it and it has run fine ever since. If you want to run a self test on your computer, turn the key on and wait a few seconds. Next turn the key off and on 3 times, ending with the key on. (do this within 5 seconds) Watch the "check engine" light. the light will go out, then it will start flashing. count the number of times that it flashes. (remember this) there will be a short pause and it will flash again. Count the flashes again. Take the two numbers and put them together and you will have your code. Example: 3 flashes, pause, 3 flashes= code 33. between each code there will be a pause too. the computer will end with a code 55 to tell you that the test is over.
