Message: This my story
93 Dakota auto tranny with 318 swaps to 360. New 360 5.9 mpi, cast-iron heads, sensors and hoses, belts. New starter, distributor, rotor, distributor cap, plug wires TB and injectors 5.9 pcm. Took two weeks to put it together. The truck started fine and ran for a week about 120 miles. Came off the highway stopped at a light and it puttered and died. Got it started and off the road. This is ware my problems began. If I let it cool it would start run for about 15-20 minutes temp around 160-170 it dies and won’t start tell cool. It it did these 5 or 6 times. Good spark compression 155-165 pounds per cylinder good fuel
Can some one give me some ideas on what to check next?

Message: It sounds like your running a gen III setup on a gen II you dint say much about your fuel system so you should have got a gen III pump and regulator mabie thats were your problem is try checking you fuel pressure at the rail and watch it as the truck gets warm

Message: Check to make sure all the grounds are good in the engine bay. Check the coil as well. The dodge coils have been known to fail when they are warm due to being mounted so close to the block. I would but a replacement, or just put an aftermarket MSD ignition with new coil on it for safe measure. Try reseting the computer, and get some smaller injectors since you are probably running way rich.

Message: There is the chance your comp. is crapping out. If you still have your 318 ecu you should try it and see if it runs better. If it does then the ecu is the problem. Also on the genII trucks there has been some problems with wires shorting out near the relay box under the hood. My 92 did that and sometimes if I hit a bump or turned on the wipers the engine would stall.
