I have smoked a wrx on the straight but in the scca race.. no chance but thats AWD vs over powered unbalaced RWD. i would'nt really say there in the same class. imports are hardly a threat except for the few truly moded ones, i fear domestics far more than subarus!

Well I have raced a couple WRX's and walked away from them...but one night I was coming home on the freeway and a WRX comes up beside me. Well little did I know that dude had uped the boost on the turbo. He hung w/ me pretty good but I slowly pulled him whereas B 4 I would totally smoke em.

Like that one guy said...u mod em right and they can be a contender.

c'mon now people, i know we all have pride in our trucks and its capabilities but there comes a time when we have to concede. yeah, an rt would probably give a wrx a run for its money if the driver didn't know how to drive. but, in normal situations, the rt would definitely get smoked. the wrx is supercharged, awd, 5-speed, and its backed by 227hp/217tq in a package thats over a thousand lbs lighter than our trucks. and remember, the ones we get here in the states are the "toned-down" versions they sell over in japan that boasts over 300hp.

wrx. hands down.

come on guys get real. Can the R/T do a sub 6 second 0-60 in stock form?? The WRX can and with a few mods can do sub 5s. I've driven my brothers modified 2002 WRX and there's no way an R/T can keep up. It is a very quick car, unbelieveably quick.

I thought of buying one but I thoroughly enjoy my 2000 4.7L Dakota CC 4x4 auto and I'm addicted to the sound of a modified magnum engine weather it's a 4.7, 5.2, or a 5.9.

Stock for stock the wrx will win. They run high 14s stock with a pretty good clutch dump and mid 14s with a suicide bouncing the rev limiter dump. I ran one at carlsbad an he launched it at like 2500 an ran a 14.9x. Thats plenty to smoke any stock r/t.

From a stop I was able to keep up with a friend's WRX, but then his boost hit and he passed right by me. Damn them turbos. Stock for stock you will have him a bit on the take off -- if they don't do a major clutch dump, or then you're really toast -- but for the most part, you won't win. I've heard the autos are pretty pathetic though.

Wrx everyday off the week. Even if you happened to beat him off the line, once the race gets into 3rd gear your toast. And because they are turbo the mods start adding power quick.

All a wrx needs is a ECU upgrade, then theres no hope off you winning at all . on the stock ones, the boost gets backed off to about 8 or 9 psi on the top end. with a ecu you can go to about 17 psi or so on a wrx without other mods.

14.9's no no no, these dam things run 14 flat where i live and that is stock. i saw a stock 99 gt go against the wrx and the gt ran a 13.996 vs. the wrx that ran a 14.061 so u guys think an rt can do that stock, and they do 0-60 in 5.4 stock not 6 something.

Not very impressive, even with a clutch drop. It needs another 60hp-70hp to get 14 flat or a Sti-WRS. Who knows, maybe this was with prefect weather at sea level too.

WRX??? which one sedan? wagon? auto? 5
spd? a 5spd sedan with a clean 2500RPM
dumpin of the clutch would eat any stock R/T.

the wagons are much slower...plenty of them
running the 1/8th mile in the low 10's (my 4.7
was faster) of course WRX's run faster in the
1/4 cause of the turbo...the R/T has a lot of low
end torque and kinda loses it after about
5000RPM's the WRX has a lot of torque, but
runs even better at high RPM's.

do you have a 5spd? sedan or wagon? etc.

also, I would rod the hell out of it once I get it,
how does it fair on gas mileage?

who cares if a wrx is faster. out trucks are TRUCKS that run close to them. so its not like a wrx is that great. and besides, can a wrx carry home a christmas tree without strappin it to the roof and scratchin paint, or tow a heavy a$$ trailer behind it. and comin in a $24,295, a single cab R/T is cheaper too! im not dissing the wrx kuz its kinda a kool car, but in my eyes, and im sure many others, the dakota is king!

peace love and racing dak owners!

His car is a 5 speed..... the only way i could see taking him would be if he blew his 1st to 2nd shift.... i've been in it and that shift is friggin crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he's wound right out the things pullin so hard it feels like the things gunna torque steer right over the curb!!! And that's with only 30 or so percent of the power at the front wheels(I think that's how its divided, not sure though)....

Matt...the reason for the $24,XXX price tag is
the fact that you are buying a race proven car.
it comes factory with a boxer H4 motor
pushing 220HP planted to the ground at all
four corners. the R/T is a truck with an old 360
pushrod motor. the WRX has a turbocharged/
intercooled DOHC 2.2L...I have been thinking
about it for a while, I would like a 4X4 truck to
go play in the snow, but I need something fast
enough that can flip most ricers out there. the
WRX is the ultimate package. $4000 invested
and its deep in the 12's. (12.5 avg w/a stage 4
performance pkg)

to be honest, $4000 invested, even in a reg
cab R/T isnt even gonna touch the 12's. I paid
almost $22,000 for my dak and to be honest, I
think I should have bitten the bullet and gone
for the subaru. I love my truck, but its heavy,
guzzles the gas, and is pretty basic inside.
