Message: My buddy had the same problem with his '99 Sport 5.2 5spd.
When he would take off, you would here a squeel just as he was letting off the clutch. And sometimes between 1st and 2nd.
Took it into the dealer it turned out to be a defective Pressure Plate. Unfortunatly a wear item and not covered under warrenty.
Hope that helps!

Message: if the tensioner arm is stiff ,remove from the truck ,take the pully off and soak the tensioner in diesel fuel over night . prefferably at room temp. next day clamp it in a vise and work it a little let it soak for a few more hours ,and then put it back on the truck .

Message: My 01 auto has a similar squeal and replaced the belt thinking it was slipping. While changing the belt I noticed the tensioner was fairly stout. About how much pressure should it apply to the belt?
