Message: Here's how you get one real cheep. It also will include all the wiring, feul injection, throttle body, drive by wire system and a new 545rfe transmission. Currently there are $3000 worth of rebates on 1500 Rams. Go buy a 1500 Ram ST with the only option being the 5.7 and the "work special" package (this also requires 4 wheel abs, and the automatic.) Anyway don't pay more then $200 over invoice which makes it cost about $16,200 after all rebates. Now pull all the stuff off the motor you want, and either part out the rest or put your old regular motor back into the Ram and sell it. I bet you can get $10,000-$15,000 for the extra parts considering you have a complete, perfect Ram body. That makes the complete motor, accessories, and transmission cost anywhere from $1,200 to $6,200. If you don't want to use the transmission, a brand new 545rfe will bring over $2000, that possibly makes the Hemi free!

Message: I still say my way is less expensive. You don't have to keep the Ram, just the motor, you sell what is left of the Ram. If just the motor is $6000 then all you need to get is more then $10,200 for the Ram, minus the motor. Ever see what a junkyard charges for something current as a 2002-2003 Ram? Do you know how easy it is to amass a $3000 repair bill from a fender bender? It's a lot of work, and requires some upfront money, but long term it would be possible to recover the intire initial cost andy you'd have the Hemi for free.

Message: The Dakota is already out with a pre-production model Hemi!
A good friend has a Quad Cab with the 5.7 Hemi, factory stock!
20" wheels and bed cover were stock.....
Granted he has connections at Dodge but if he was able to get a pre-production model, you can bet your life that the production model isn't far behind...

Message: I just called the dealership where I bought my 2002 R/T and asked about the Hemi in the 1500. He claimed that 19,400 was the best he could do on a stripped 5 speed "work truck" with the 5.7, I guess he was tring to rip me. He also told me that the hemi is impressive in the upper RPM range but he says the R/T will still beat it out of the hole, so I may just stick with the 'ol R/T til they put the hemi in it in 2004 or 2005.

I suppose you would have said the same thing about a V10 in a motorcycle before the news release this week..

Message: uh you can only get the hemi in an auto, 5 speed is not avaliable. oh and i don't think that chrysler is going to sell a dakota in pre-production form with a hemi. do you know of anyone with an srt-4 yet? they are in production, the hemi dakota isn't. oh and if they fit a v-10 and a 426 hemi in a pt crusier, you can fit one in a neon.

Message: I see and work on and with limited production vechiles. If they make less then 500 of them they do not even have to support them from a parts stand point. Quite often I get calls from dealers with a limited production test mule in for service or one of the plants has a preproduction vechile as a company car. Usually the person gets a great deal on it and then when it is time to work on it we have problems and have to shade tree engineer a fix useing off the shelf parts. I have friend with a Corvette that is not emmission legal and it was supposed to be crushed. Someone at the proveing grounds accidental released it for sale in one of those huge dealer offlease sale. He poped the hood and their were about 3 different labels on it that basicly said not emmison legal for off road use only. He calls me up and asked me to do some checking sure enough that vechile was officaly slated to be crushed! He bought it out right and now owns a 1 of a kind test mule. If anything breaks on it he is going to have a real problem. The PCM has a custom flash, their are no emmission componets on it and that color was never used in production. Their are other odd things as well. The harness has alot of well done splices some of the componets on the car were not used on corvettes like the audio system and other little things.........
