Message: Check your local auto-recycler....mine up the street from me always has tons of wrecked rams/durangos/dakotas most from 95-02's that will sell complete engines with computer and wire harnesses dirt cheap. My nextdoor neighbor bought a 98 318 with everything 68k on it for 400.00!

Message: I know of this site that has rebuilt 318 long blocks," aftermarket & genuine replacement engines that meet or beat Dodge Chrysler specifications for fit and quality."(http://www.dodge-chrysler-auto-truck-engines.com/dodge-chrysler-engines.html). Thier motors come with a 7yr./70,000 mile warranty. You could buy:
91' dakota 318-$1294
92-97' dakota 318-$1585
92' ram 360-$1310 These prices
93-97' ram 360-$1585 are with a
65-71' forged crank 383-$1295 core deposit
73-80' forged crank 400-$1319 subtracted
66-72' forged crank 440-$1363 ($200-$250)
They also say that performance options are available on most engines.

Message: If your looking for a monster motor you might want to check out http://www.crateengine.net/318390.html
With a machined block+ 4" crank+ forged h-beam rods+ custom flat top JE pistons and fully assembled it could be one bad 390!! For only $1800 more in parts you could have a 450ft-lbs torque monster.Choose my way it'll cost $3200 (heads,RR,cam, intake, cpu)you could have yourself a 450 horse killer motor. Wishful thinking!?!
