Subject: Engine swap question IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99' R/T. I was wondering if someone could tell me what all would have to be done to swap out my 360 with a moper crate 380hp 360?

Message: You do know that is a carb only engine. It also has horrendous idle caracteristics and a reccomended 3000+ stall convertor.

Message: And thats a bad thing? I could think of nothing better in my Dak. But seriously, the 360 crate is a carb only motor? I thought Mopar Performance made an intake and throttle body that you could use on them. Or, you could go with a Holley Pro-Jection setup. Just my 2 cents.

Message: If you are a DIY guy, it would be much cheaper and easier to mod the engine you have in there. I would definitely go that route. Get a set of aluminum high flow heads and a good cam. That thing will scream. I wish my 4.7L had the mods a 360 did. I would be broke for sure... Hell, I bet for what they charge for the crate motor, you could throw in a supercharger. Get a Vortech.

Message: You might be able to do something with it if you put on a projection system. The 4di system is the only one that will handle it and you need a laptop to run it. The 380 360 only makes about 6-7 inches of vacuume at idle.
