Subject: Got my dak finally...questions and pics IP: Logged
Message: Ok guys, I finally got my 2000 CC auto 4.7L dak sport tonight, feels great. Playin under the hood we noticed a couple things though.
On the drivers side there's a ground attached to the firewall, but it is not connected to anything on the other end. What SHOULD it be connected to down there?
And second, the drivers side of the intake hat is not bolted down. You can see the loop where a bolt would go through, and the hole where it would screw into. This isn't my concern as much as this: The two aluminum pipes that run under the intake hat are not held there by anything, they're actually resting on the engine. I'm sure there should be something holding them there, my question is, is that the same thing that would be on the bolt for the intake hat?
Pics of them are here.

The top pic obviously is of the ground, the wire in question is near the top of the pic, in the center, runs straight down the firewall. Second pic is self explanatory. I need to make a run to the dodge dealership for a couple other small things soon, if something does in fact hold those two pipes on the same bolt as the intake hat mounting bolt, what is that thing called? Thanks guys! Feels great to finally have a dakota rather than lurkin this board dreaming!!

Message: Ok, that ground strap should be hooked to the engine somewhere. Either to a bolt on the block, or to one of the valve cover bolts. It's not really important, it's just an extra ground for the engine.
Dunno about the second one, never looked under the hood of a 4.7L...

Message: Alrighty thanks bud.
I was about to hook it to the valve cover bolt, I unscrewed it but it won't come loose. I can feel the point where it feels like the threads aren't in the hole anymore but the actual bolt won't come loose, there some trick to this? :\
Bear with me here, I'm kinda diving head first into engine workings with no one here to help me..

Message: I got a 2000 with a 4.7L in it. If it isn't raining when I go to lunch, I'll grab the digicam and take some pics of those areas and let you know where my ground is connected and if theres are support for those pipes on my motor.

Message: I took a few photos of the air hat from the driver side for you, and I tried to see where the ground goes (took the one photo) I think it hooks to the engine block right behind the intake manifold but I’m not sure. Maybe you could see it from under the truck.
