What is everyone using to hold the cam sprocket while you torque down the cam bolt? I can't find that special tool they call for in the manual. Is there some trick that will work? I am fabricating a tool that I think will work, but if it doesn't, I would like to have some other options. Also, any other tips you have for this install would be greatly appreciated.

So have all of you just called up a Jeep Dealer and ordered the original cams for the 4.7L HO? I also haven't seen a definitive answer on the Intake. Is it worth getting as well?? As per another post, the Cams seems to make a large difference, especially top end. I notice on my Quad Cab that the engine seems to give up past about 5k RPMs. If I could fix that I would be a happy, happy man!!

The intake will help it pull beyond the 5k mark. The cams help up to that point.

CW , how much of a gain over stock did you get? The only mod I have now is the intake.

Put my cams in last week with no special tools. Made wood block wedges to hold the cam chain. You can just abouot get 90lb on the bolts beore it tries to rotate - again you can hold the harmonic balancer...

I was disappointed with the results - actually felt like the truck lost low-end torque. Who knows may be the hot weather having some affect???
Everything added (K&N and Gibson) makes the truck feel slower than stock...........

Mcymike,

There's no way for it to lose power. Just make sure you reset your engine computer before driving it around (if you didn't already do that). More duration and more torque...

Mcymike, it will take a few hundred miles for your computer to adjust to the new cams. I really couldn't tell a difference at first either. Then, after about 250 miles, I could really feel the added torque.
