Something Iv never quite caught on too on this site is how when you confront a V6 dak individual about why they didnt go ahead and get the 8 they say, "Well, we just love dakotas and didnt have the money to get the 8..." Then I turn around and see some of those 6 guys that have put more into there dak sixers than the ammount it costs to put an entire big block into there truck...
Just thought I'd mention this to see what kind of input I get...

well.... i couldnt find a regular cab Intense Pearl Blue Dakota with a sunroof and the options i wanted. So i got a six cylinder. Now remember when the gen III came out the 8 cylinder was like a $2500 option.... not the $500 now. Most of these people that spend a lot of money on there v6 dont spend it all at once (except bernd). Most are gradual mods like i have done. All in all i have spent about $2500 in mods over the last 2.5 years. Now my truck only cost me $13,100 and that isnt that much money. A v8 woulda cost me more like $16,000-18,000 and that would put me about where i am at now. Besides.... my truck runs faster than most of any of the trucks on this board (i didnt say ALL). If i could have a v8 boy i sure would take one in a heart because i make a lot more money now and that would be nice. When i got my truck i was making $7 an hour and not bringing home that much money (i was 18 at the time) and now i am 20 and bring home about $40,000 a year so i have plenty of money for mods. I am very sure of myself that if i had all the mods that i had with two more cylinders that i probably would have the fastest truck on the board.... i would predict low 11 second 1/4s (instead of low 13s).
so if any one has a v8 that i could use that would be nice;-)
(now i wonder what kinda response i will get from this)

what? i am already faster than those two guys... my best 1/8th right now is a 8.95, bernd's is a 9.4?, and Kris' is a 10.?
Now we did put more mods on kris' truck right now but he still hasnt run it yet. This week i am putting the good old squeeze back on my truck and doing some manifold work.... it will be done well before bernds turbo 6.... plus with all the mods i have... and the nitrous and my rear setup.... if it were only on a 360. Bernd will make that thing scream when it gets turboed but it will be no match for a V8 on 150 shot of nitrous. I am purchasing my brothers nitrous kit from him and converting it to a efi setup (just need two braided lines and a shark nozzle). His setup is adjustable up to 250hp shot unlike the dodge efi kit that is only to 150hp shot.
but after reading about Bigbird or whatever his name was i would have to say i would come in second! I think the only reason that my six gets the good times that it has gotten is because of the ladder bars and coil overs/drag shocks. With an open differential i am still pulling off 2.2 60 ft times. From what i have seen most LIGHTLY modded RTs have around a 2.2 60 ft time with their 3.92 gears and LSD.
but for the most part i think you are just trying to yank my crank graphite.... good job!

If only on a 360. Hmmm Lesley has one of those. Maybe she'll mod it up like you say and then She'll have the fastest truck.

i just know me talking about my six is gonna p!ss some V8s off. But right now i am in the process of chopping up my intake manifold.... i swear i must have gotten the one from the bottom of the barrel. By the end of this month i think my truck will be ready to go back to the track... And i wont settle for anything less than a 7.99 when i go!!!!!

Why'd I get a six? Money at the time. I had a so-so job and needed a vehicle. I didn't start doing mods for almost 8 months. I tried to get a 5.2, but they didn't have any in my price range and the rebate program was ending soon (Plus I wanted to offload my POS cavalier before they changed their mind on the trade). I wish I'd gotten the 5.2 or 4.7, but I'm happy with my little 6.

dude, invest the $400 in a limited slip, or even
a locker, you could probably pick up another
tenth....I am kinda dissapointed in my extra 8
liters cause, even with a supercharger, I will
probably only be running low 9's.
my best is 9.86 in the 1/8th ; ( thats with the
little mods I have, I am going next thursday
probably, by that time my jet chip will be off, my
TB spacer will be off, and I will probably be
another tenth faster ; )

only the 100 shot of nitrous (no supercharger)
i am looking into a lsd but want to get a good one. It will probably knock more like .5-1.0 seconds off because i spin one slick (27/11.50/15) half way down a 1/8th mile track and i cant give it much out of the hole so with a good lsd i can pic up a lot. I dont know why but my truck really responds well to the nitrous. Right now i am doing some intake manifold mods and plan on loosing a few more 100 lbs around the truck. Next time i run i want to be in the 7s in the 1/8th. wish me luck!
